1. A move to Maia’s childhood home
Robert and Maia relocate to a place connected to Maia’s past. The move provides the setting for the story and brings Robert into a household with a history he does not fully understand.

Background: When Was The Visitor Released?
The 2022 film was directed by Justin P. Lange and released digitally by Epix and Paramount Home Entertainment on October 7, 2022. It was produced as a horror feature focused on a mysterious doppelgänger, an unsettling portrait, and the secrets of a family home.
The film’s premise combines familiar horror elements with a mystery about identity. A doppelgänger is a person or figure that looks remarkably like another person. In horror stories, this resemblance can suggest supernatural forces, hidden histories, or a threat to the protagonist’s understanding of who they are.
In The Visitor, the portrait is the catalyst for Robert’s investigation. Maia’s childhood home becomes more than a setting: it is the place where the couple’s present intersects with a troubling past.
Is There Another Movie Called The Visitor?
Yes. This is an important distinction for anyone searching for information about the wife character.
The Visitor (2024)
Directed by Bruce LaBruce, this British film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024. It follows a mysterious stranger who enters the household of a wealthy London family. Amy Kingsmill plays the Mother, rather than Maia from the 2022 film.
The Visitor (2025)
This separate Lithuanian-Norwegian-Swedish drama, directed by Vytautas Katkus, follows Danielius as he returns to his hometown after his father’s death. It explores loneliness, memory, and the experience of returning to a place that no longer feels like home. It is not the same story as the 2022 horror film.
These films have different directors, casts, plots, and themes. If you are looking for the wife of Robert Burrows, the relevant title is the 2022 horror film starring Jessica McNamee and Finn Jones.
What Did the Filmmakers and Official Sources Say?
The official Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse pages identify Robert and Maia as the married couple at the centre of the 2022 film. Their synopsis emphasizes Robert’s discovery of the portrait and his attempt to identify the mysterious man known as the Visitor.
The official descriptions establish the film’s premise and principal cast. They do not establish that the story is based on a real married couple or a verified supernatural incident.
There is also no confirmed official announcement in the sources reviewed that changes Maia’s identity or establishes a separate real-life story behind the character. Claims beyond the published film information should therefore be treated cautiously.
Why Does the Visitor Wife Search Matter?
The phrase “the visitor wife” is short and ambiguous. Someone using it may want to know the actress’s name, identify the wife in a movie, understand a character’s role, or find information about a different production.
For the 2022 film, the essential facts are straightforward:
- Wife’s character name: Maia.
- Actress: Jessica McNamee.
- Husband’s character: Robert Burrows.
- Actor playing Robert: Finn Jones.
- Main story: Robert discovers a portrait of a man who resembles him and investigates the mystery surrounding the Visitor.
Making these distinctions clear helps readers find the correct film rather than confusing different productions with identical or similar titles.
What Happens Next?
The 2022 film is an already released production, not a newly announced project. The official listings reviewed provide the film’s cast, director, release date, and premise. They do not establish a new sequel announcement or a forthcoming development involving Maia.
Readers interested in the story should look for the 2022 The Visitor listing from Paramount Pictures or Blumhouse. Anyone searching for the 2024 or 2025 film should check the director and cast before choosing a title.
