Zooey Deschanel recently gave fans a sneak peek at the Halloween decorations outside the Los Angeles home she shares with her fiancé, Jonathan Scott. In photos shared on social media, the actress posed beside a large inflatable black cat, with an inflatable Dracula visible in the background. The October 2026 update offers a glimpse into the couple’s festive home-decorating traditions.

Zooey Deschanel Gives Fans a First Look at Halloween Decorations With Jonathan Scott

Actress and singer Zooey Deschanel has offered fans a glimpse of the Halloween decorations being installed outside her Los Angeles home with fiancé Jonathan Scott. The New Girl star shared a series of photographs on Instagram on October 2, 2026, featuring an oversized inflatable black cat and a Dracula decoration as the couple began preparing for the Halloween season. The photographs were reported by People magazine.

The update has attracted attention because it combines Deschanel’s playful public personality with the couple’s interest in home design and seasonal decorations. Scott, best known as one of the hosts of HGTV’s Property Brothers, has previously discussed the thought he puts into the outdoor spaces at their home.

Although the photographs offer only a preview, they provide a look at how the couple is getting ready for Halloween. Deschanel has not publicly revealed every decoration planned for this year’s celebration, so the full setup remains unknown.

What Happened? Zooey Deschanel Shares Halloween Photos

In the October 2 Instagram post, Deschanel posed beside a large inflatable black cat in the front yard of the couple’s Los Angeles property.

The photographs show the actress interacting with the decoration in several playful poses. In one image, she leans toward the cat, while another captures her standing behind it. An inflatable Dracula can also be seen in the background beside a column at the front of the property.

Deschanel wore a taupe-colored jacket with black fuzzy trim in the pictures. The home’s white gazebo was also visible in the background, adding another recognizable feature to the outdoor setting.

The actress accompanied the Instagram post with black-cat and jack-o’-lantern emojis, keeping the announcement simple rather than sharing a lengthy explanation of the decorations.

The photographs appear to show the early stages of the couple’s Halloween preparations. They do not establish that the entire display has been completed, and no complete inventory of the decorations has been announced.

Why the Halloween Preview Is Getting Attention

Celebrity home updates often attract interest because they give audiences a glimpse into the personal spaces of familiar public figures. In this case, the photographs connect two aspects of the couple’s public image: Deschanel’s lighthearted style and Scott’s professional interest in homes, renovation and design.

The inflatable decorations also make the update accessible to readers who enjoy seasonal decorating ideas. Unlike a major home renovation, Halloween decorations can be temporary, playful and relatively easy for people to adapt to their own homes.

For fans, the photos provide a small personal update without suggesting a major announcement about the couple’s relationship or careers.

Inside Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott’s Los Angeles Home

The Halloween pictures show only part of the property, but the outdoor setting has previously featured in Scott’s home and garden discussions.

According to People, Scott gave a tour of the couple’s outdoor spaces in August 2026. He explained that he had organized the yard into different areas to make it more useful for entertaining and spending time outdoors.

The property also features a white gazebo and a rose garden that Scott has described as especially meaningful to him.

In a separate video discussed by People, Scott explained that the gazebo had originally stood on another part of the property and was nearly a century old. Because the structure was deteriorating, he rebuilt it, increased its height and added lighting and a heater.

He also explained that he had preserved and replanted the original roses during the construction work. The roses were approximately 60 years old, according to his account.

These details help explain why the garden is more than just a decorative backdrop. It reflects an approach to home improvement that combines practical changes with the preservation of existing features.

The Halloween photographs offer a seasonal contrast to that carefully maintained landscape. Temporary decorations such as the inflatable cat and Dracula can bring a playful atmosphere to a property without permanently changing its design.

Who Is Zooey Deschanel?

Zooey Deschanel is an American actress, singer and songwriter known for her work in film, television and music. Born in Los Angeles, California, on January 17, 1980, she became widely recognized for her distinctive comedic performances and her role as Jess Day in the television sitcom New Girl.

Her career spans independent films, mainstream comedies, animated movies and musical projects. She has also worked as a director and entrepreneur.

Zooey Deschanel’s Early Career

Deschanel made her feature-film debut in the 1999 movie Mumford. She gained further recognition for her performance in Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film Almost Famous, which helped introduce her to a wider audience.

She subsequently appeared in films including The Good Girl, Elf, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Failure to Launch, Yes Man and (500) Days of Summer.

Her performances frequently combine comedy with a distinctive screen presence, allowing her to move between independent productions and commercially successful films. Her work in Elf, in particular, has become associated with seasonal entertainment, making her familiar to audiences who revisit the film during the Christmas period.

These career highlights are documented in the biographies maintained by ABC and the Television Academy.

Why New Girl Remains Important to Her Career

One of Deschanel’s best-known roles is Jess Day in the sitcom New Girl. The series follows Jess, an upbeat and unconventional teacher who moves into a shared loft with three men after a breakup.

The show’s humor and ensemble cast helped establish it as a recognizable television comedy. Deschanel’s performance brought her major awards attention, including an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2012 and three Golden Globe nominations for her work on the show.

Although the series concluded in 2018, it remains an important part of her public profile. New audiences can continue to discover the show through television and streaming availability, while longtime viewers associate Deschanel with Jess’s optimistic and eccentric personality.

That continuing recognition helps explain why relatively small personal updates involving the actress can draw interest from entertainment audiences.

Zooey Deschanel’s Music Career

Deschanel is also a musician. She formed the musical duo She & Him with musician M. Ward, and their work includes original songs and recordings of classic material.

The duo released albums including Volume One, Volume Two, A Very She & Him Christmas, Volume 3, Classics and Christmas Party. Deschanel also earned a Grammy nomination for the song “So Long,” written for Disney’s animated film Winnie the Pooh.

Her music career is an important part of her creative identity, separate from her acting work. It also reflects her interest in combining contemporary entertainment with vintage-inspired musical styles.

Who Is Jonathan Scott, Zooey Deschanel’s Fiancé?

Jonathan Scott is a Canadian television personality, entrepreneur and home-renovation expert. He is widely known for co-hosting Property Brothers with his twin brother, Drew Scott.

The program focuses on real estate, renovation and home improvement, and the brothers have built a broader media presence around residential design.

Scott’s professional interests are visible in the couple’s recent home updates. His discussions of the garden, gazebo and landscaping show an interest in making outdoor spaces functional as well as visually appealing.

Deschanel and Scott have been publicly linked since 2019 and are engaged. Their relationship has also brought together two different entertainment audiences: viewers familiar with Deschanel’s acting and music, and fans of Scott’s renovation and property programs.

The Halloween post, however, is a home-and-lifestyle update rather than an announcement about their engagement or wedding plans.

Their Shared Interest in Home Design

The couple’s home has appeared in previous entertainment coverage, including reports about holiday decorating and the outdoor areas.

Scott’s comments about the gazebo and rose garden suggest that preserving the property’s character has been an important part of the outdoor project. At the same time, the Halloween decorations introduce a temporary seasonal element to the space.

This combination of thoughtful landscaping and playful decorations gives fans a broader picture of the couple’s home life without requiring them to reveal private details.

It is worth distinguishing the documented features of the property from assumptions about their personal routines. The photographs confirm that Halloween decorations were being installed; they do not establish every detail of how the couple will celebrate the holiday.

What Officials or the Couple Have Said

There is no government or official institutional announcement associated with this story. The principal source is Deschanel’s Instagram post, as reported by People on October 2, 2026.

The report describes the black-cat and Dracula inflatables and identifies the photographs as part of the couple’s early Halloween preparations. It also refers to Scott’s earlier public comments about the gazebo and rose garden.

Scott’s previously reported remarks focus on the design of the yard and the work involved in restoring the gazebo and preserving the roses. They provide context for the property but should not be interpreted as comments specifically about the new Halloween display.

Neither the photographs nor the report confirms a complete decorating plan, a Halloween party or a particular celebration schedule.

That distinction matters because celebrity coverage can sometimes turn a small social media post into a much larger story than the available evidence supports. In this case, the confirmed development is straightforward: Deschanel shared a preview of the decorations outside her home with Scott.

Why Zooey Deschanel’s Halloween Update Matters

The update is a relatively light entertainment story, but it offers several points of interest for readers.

1. It Gives Fans a Personal Update

Deschanel’s acting career is well documented, but social media posts can provide glimpses of her interests outside film and television. The Halloween photographs offer a brief look at the home she shares with Scott.

The images are not a comprehensive account of her private life, but they give followers an informal update as the seasonal celebrations approach.

2. It Highlights the Couple’s Approach to Decorating

Scott’s renovation background makes home-related updates a natural point of interest for the couple’s audience. His earlier comments about the garden show attention to both function and preservation.

The Halloween decorations add a more playful dimension to that interest. For readers planning their own displays, the images also serve as a reminder that seasonal decorating can include simple, recognizable features rather than a complete renovation.

3. It Connects Celebrity News With Seasonal Inspiration

Halloween decorations are a recurring topic each autumn, and readers often look for ideas for their own homes, porches and gardens.

A large inflatable black cat and a Dracula figure are recognizable Halloween motifs. While the photos do not provide a complete decorating guide, they offer examples of how oversized inflatables can be used to establish a festive theme.

The practical takeaway is inspiration, not a claim that the couple’s exact decorations are necessary or suitable for every home.

4. It Keeps the Story in Perspective

There is no confirmed major career announcement or relationship change in this particular update. The interest comes from a seasonal social media post and the couple’s home.

Presenting the story accurately helps readers distinguish a lifestyle update from more consequential entertainment news.

What Happens Next?

As of October 9, 2026, the available report does not confirm what additional Halloween decorations Deschanel and Scott plan to install or whether they intend to share a more complete view of the display.

The couple may post further photographs or videos on their social media accounts, but that remains a possibility rather than a confirmed next step.

For now, the October 2 post provides the clearest reported update: Halloween preparations had begun outside their Los Angeles home, with a black-cat inflatable and a Dracula decoration among the visible features.

Readers interested in future developments can look for new posts from Deschanel and Scott, as well as subsequent entertainment coverage. Until additional information is shared, claims about elaborate parties, specific plans or other undisclosed decorations should be treated as unconfirmed.

Conclusion

Zooey Deschanel’s Halloween photographs offer a lighthearted look at the seasonal preparations taking place outside her Los Angeles home with fiancé Jonathan Scott. The inflatable black cat and Dracula decoration provide a playful preview, while the visible gazebo connects the update to Scott’s previously discussed work on the property’s outdoor spaces.

The story also reflects Deschanel’s enduring public appeal, built through New Girl, films such as Elf and (500) Days of Summer, and her music with She & Him.

For now, the Halloween preview is exactly that: a glimpse of the couple’s decorations, not a major announcement about their relationship or careers. Any additional plans will need to be confirmed through future public updates.
